My First [aSW] CouchSurfing Adventure

I enjoy meeting people off of aSmallWorld, so I always check out Geolocator and the discussion forums before my trips.  One member was not only willing to meet me, he offered me his guest cottage 30 minutes from Miami.  While skeptical, I decided to take him up on his offer this past March.

I was pleasantly surprised.  My personal, air-conditioned cottage had a private bathroom with shower, kitchenette with full-sized refrigerator & wi-fi.

My favorite spot was the lounge area, overlooking the bar, pool & hot tub:

Thank you!!  🙂

Travel Review: Woodstock Inn & Resort

Lesson of the day: There is more than one Woodstock in the US*

When I heard we were meeting in Woodstock, I immediately thought of the famous music festival held at Max Yasgur’s 600 acre dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York from August 15 to August 18, 1969.

Instead, I was driven to Woodstock, Vermont. Through the rain, I could tell that the town was quite upscale. I would definitely go back & explore. I would even consider having my husband-yet-to-be-determined wedding there? (Preceded / followed by a trip to Dartmouth, of course. How awesome would it be to toss my bouquet off of Baker Towers??)

My friend & I walked through a very rural chic lobby into Richardson’s Tavern. If you have a sweet tooth (& you’re of age), do not leave this resort without taking a break on their sumptuous leather seats with one of their Grapetinis in hand. The glass is perfectly chilled & garnished with frozen grapes. YUM!
